Hi everyone…as you know, last week was a roller coaster of emotions for us. We had the high of Bryan getting the bone flap put in, to the low of him experiencing a seizure and needing emergency surgery to remove it. We didn’t know after, what that meant in terms of his recovery. Then, the all time high (to date) of him mouthing his last name. The days after that, his responses slowed down. A CT scan showed he did have extra fluid around his brain, which could be the reason he was getting sleepier so yesterday they decided to put in a lumbar drain. It was the less invasive solution to rid the fluid. An hour or so later, his heart rate dropped drastically and he wasn’t becoming as alert as they had hoped. We also noticed that his head looked more concaved then usual. They clamped the drain and took him for another CT scan. They think that the drain was actually working too well. After having it clamped, his heart rate went back up and this morning, the nurse reported he is responsive.

When Bryan is asleep, and not responding, a song always comes to mind that Brian, our LA friend included on the CD he made us all…Waiting for My Real life to Begin. We often wonder what Bryan is dreaming about, and if he’s resting, knowing that he needs the rest because what he’s going through now is not what his real life will be. A part of the song that really sticks out to us is, “I’m walking in my old footsteps, once again. You say, be here now, forget about the past.”

Bryan has proved his strength throughout all this and we know he will continue to amaze us all.

Bryan - you and your family continue to be at the top of my prayer list everyday. Whenever I look at my bracelet I say an extra little prayer. I can't help but believe and pray for a miracle and recovery. Know that your parents, sisters, children, friends and all those people who's lives you have saved need you back so keep fighting to come back to everyone!!!

I just read the charges against the 2 men and felt sick to my stomach at what they did -it's beyond anything I imagined. In reading the article it already shows how much of a miracle you already are!!! Stay strong and know that there are so many people around the world praying for you.

To Bryan and Family,

My family and I think about you and pray for you everyday! . I do have a daughter with hydrocephalus and she has had many shunts placed, but this is such a senseless act of violence we pray for justice. We pray that you recover quickly and we pray for strength for your family. You are in our daily thoughts and prayers, you can do this Bryan. God Bless you and heal you.

Wow, what news.

I hope and pray things will get better.

I had a Becker tube put in my lumbar area of my back when I had spinal cord surgery to remove tumors in my C-7 section just below when the neck and back come together. I recoverd completly from it. It's unreal at how much fluid can be produced.

Love and prayers being sent your way.

I am so happy to hear that in spite of setbacks, Bryan is making progress. Remember that God ministers to us in our sleep. I am sure that God in his mercy is talking with Bryan, preparing him for his life after this trauma. I am so moved by the outpouring from so so many people. What a blessing it is to see him getting better. He is loved by so many.

I just wanted to say that Bryan and his family are in my prayers. My father was in a accident and had sever head trauma. There were times were we did not know if he would make it. It was a long road for him to recover. But my father did recover and he barely shows any signs of the accident. The only symptoms he has is he gets bad headaches once in awhile. For Bryan to be able to say his name is wonderful. I'm looking forward to the day when Bryan returns home from the hospital. And thank you for the updates.

Oh what a scary week it has been for all of you. Roller coaster of emotions indeed. I can't even imagine how that must feel. I was hoping the latest update would only be ups not downs. At least it seems to be moving in an upward direction after the latest bumps.

Today I was just thinking about my husband's head injury and how scary that was. Then I came on here and read this and realized how far we have come. I believe Bryan will get there in his own time. Sending good thoughts your way.

To everyone in the Stow family~

Still praying for Bryan's recovery and for God to bring peace and comfort to you all while you patiently endure this part of his journey. As a mom, my heart goes out to you as parents. I know that you want nothing more to see him out of pain, to see him wake up and recognize your faces, and to be able to reach out and give you a huge comforting hug. As a sister, I know that you want your brother back. There is such a special bong that exists between siblings. I pray that you all will have your wishes realized. God is our great healer. He can do miracles. He recently put a friend of mine into remission who was suffering from stage IV cancer. If he can do that, he can certainly heal Bryan. Keep praying and keep your faith and again, know that the world is praying for Bryan. xoxo

Yet another great song pick !!
It was definately a week of ups and downs, and we were all here with you ! Bryan, you are going to be so amazed to see how you have touched people, truely and deeply !! You have brought people together, to be by your side through this all !! Although we would have prefered another way of you bring us all together, maybe a party or something ?? We will have that party when you are all healed up !! It will the biggest party ever thrown !! I have learned, while going thru this with you that there are many many good, loving, giving, supportive people left in this world, a thought I had all but given up on. Your family is one of the strongest family units I have ever had the priveledge to admire !!! Their love and strength is amazing, and through it all, they take the time to keep us, the masses who have come to love you, informed about your progress !! You helped so many during your career , and now we get to repay the favor !!
Continuing prayers and positive thoughts for you, Bryan and your beautiful family !!
WE BELIEVE IN YOU BRYAN !!
xoxo

Hi Bryan & Family,

This past week has been another roller coaster for you. Some bad parts, yet there were also some positive steps as well. The pure fact that he opened his eyes, mouthed his last name is something that I am holding on to as it is such a positive step. I know that the draining is a huge issue, yet it sounds as if the medical staff are really working to find a way to find an equal "balance". what ever that balance might be, I hope that the positive steps, the movements keep coming.

Sending lots of positive thoughts, prayers and love to Bryan & his family. I continue to believe as is does the rest of my family. We all believe that Bryan will leave the hospital and will be ok.

Hello Stows! I really learn a lot each time I find a new update from you here on your website. When a person is described as "in a coma" or comatose, it's easy to imagine them as wholly unresponsive... "sleeping." But your descriptions of Bryan's progress show just how much more depth there is to this state of being. Life is just so complicated and so precious, and I have learned from you, over and over, to never to lose sight of this fact.

Thanks so very much for updating us on Bryan's progress (and on your own progress through this complicated and difficult journey). A day doesn't go by without Bryan's name popping into my head, and each time my wife and I turn on the Giants game, we think of him. And obviously, from all the people participating in these threads, we're hardly alone in that regard. I know we'll probably never have a chance to meet you folks or Bryan, but that doesn't mean that we're not still pulling for you guys 100%. Bryan's story isn't complete yet. I doubt very much that anyone can foretell what lies in store for him, but I'm very hopeful that it will be rich and fulfilling even if it isn't the same life he once led. So... go Stow!! Keep going, man. There are unwritten pages in your life that you have yet to fill.

Hello Family!
Oh the roller coaster continues... I get butterflies everytime I hear something new.... I am glad he is feeling better today and I pray that things only get better from here.
In your post you stated you often wonder what Bryan is dreaming about. When I went to visit him yesterday he was very sleepy, especially around the time that I was saying goodbye. I too wondered the same thing as I watched him steadily breath in and out... I could have stayed there all day just to watch him sleep. I kissed him once on the cheek and as I turned to walk away I needed one more so I kissed him again and whispered to him that we all love him and to get his rest because he's got his whole life ahead of him!
I love you all and God Bless!
XOXO

Greetings to the Stows. Most sorry to hear about the bone flap. But I'm very relieved adjustments were made and the fluid that is causing problems is being removed . Bryan's doctors really are artists, aren't they, as well as being amazing scientists? They (and all the other hospital personnel) care about Bryan so much, and we're all so grateful for their efforts in Bryan's behalf. God bless them, and God bless YOU. The angels watching over Bryan right now include YOU. Don't forget that. Postscript: I loved, loved, loved the news about Bryan mouthing his name. Alas, his healing definitely is occurring in geological time, but stuff like his mouthing his name convinces me there is progress!

Sending great wishes and love along with everyone else. I continue to hope with all my heart the days ahead will bring all of you happier moments, to the ultimate: Bryan waking up. Tracy Chapman wrote a song called "Heaven's on Hearth" way back in the 90's that I loved. One of my favorite lines from it is:

I've seen and met angels wearing the disguise
Of ordinary people leading ordinary lives
Filled with love, compassion, forgiveness and sacrifice

The above makes me think of Bryan and the rest of your family. Here is the link to the entire song in case anyone is interested:

All of you are such good people that all of us have been granted the privilege of getting to know. I wish to all h*** it wasn't for the reason it is, but never forget how much you are cared for and how highly thought of.

Take Care, Bryan, we all are rooting for you!

My heart and prayers goes out to Bryan and his terrific, loving, supportive family. I heard on the news this morning the dispicable details of the beating.. I was appalled at what I was hearing. I sat on the couch and asked god.. Why? I am so glad that they have been arrested and I hope they all get locked away for a long time and we throw away the key. Thanik you for keeping America apprised of Bryan's long road to recovery..

Hello Stow family, I'm Jennifer from L.A. I am so very relieved to hear that Bryan is making progress. It looks like the real perpetrators have finally been arrested and I hope that brings some relief to your family as well, although I know it's much more important that Bryan recovers. He's been in my thoughts and prayers since day 1, and that is where he'll stay until the day that he is not only mouthing his last name, but singing it from the rooftops!

Since the beginning, I have followed Bryan and all of his family's ordeal.
I believe in miracles.
I offer masses for Bryan and pray for him and encourage others to as well.

He was a victim of evil and wickedness. He will illuminate the miraculous power of love and goodness. I believe God is very involved in Bryan's recovery.

Keep your chins up. Kiss Bryan often. Show him the Light everytime you look at him.

I appreciate the updates.

Here's a poem I wrote:

As bad as I felt yesterday
Today my outlook's great
A lot of things worked out fine
I just had to wait

By hanging on, not giving up
I gave myself a chance
While I was keeping Faith
Hope shot me a glance

Not only did I make it through
My attitude wholly changed
I see God has His plan
So mine gets rearranged

It's not so bad really
Results aren't mine to doubt
I just have to do my best
The rest God figures out

An when finally you all and Bryan are in Heaven, everyone will enjoy perfect health and the rewards of being faithful.

God bless you. You are doing what matters most - loving.
You are setting a great example to the world.
Thank you for that.

Hello once again Bryan. God is continuing to bless you and your family. I have said all along that the Lord will not forsake you. He loves you and is keeping you close to him. The world is praying for your return to us, but He has a better plan for right now. He wants to keep you close to him, to give you the strength you need to cope in the real world. We have to love and trust Him. The Lord knows best. We will all be waiting for the day you return to us. We must be patient. The song was beautiful. I t was so appropriate for your situation. God Bless and remember, we are all going to wait as long as it takes for your return.

Hi stow family,
So.....like all the other people who are posting here I have been following the progress of brian. I always am hopeful when I come here that you will have great news. Today I took a peek at your family pictures, and they are so sweet. I really like the one of Brian with his long locks of hair! I had to laugh a it is so old school. It's amazing because I'm sure y'all never thought that such a simple moment would mean anything to so many people when you took them. I hope that this is a good day for you guys. Give those kids a smooch, I am going to go do the same to mine!

I hope things are going well for you and your family. Boy I wish I could just wave a magic wand and make you all better. I don't know you or your family but I love you and your family. I am so sorry this happen. I only want you to wake up and come back to being the Bry that everyone knows & loves. The person I have come to known from this web site.-- you got to wake up. You seem like you are almost there with last week saying your last name and moving your arms.
I am sorry if I am sounding impatient - I will pray for you for as long as it takes. I just know you are in there trying to wake up and I feel you are right there. There is something that needs to click in order for this to happen. I know it will and it will be a great day when we hear the reports that you are wake. I get happy just thinking about it..

Hello All,

This beautiful and heart-touching song reminds me of Bryan:

"When many little people in many little places
Do many little things, then the whole world changes
But sometimes not fast enough for me

You see I'm just a little man, trying hard to understand
What kind of living is a life if I can't stand on my own two feet

You see we are looking for the same thing
And we are trying to survive
But I know each day in life don't get much easier than the last
So today I'm just glad to be alive

And I'm singing
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, stay by my side
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, I'm glad to be alive
Glad to be alive

I think that life is a blessing
And every step, every lesson
You want for love and protection
To those in me

To all my mothers and fathers
And all the angels and saints
I'm so glad to be alive

Seems like there's never enough time to do the things I wanna do
And it never ends
But at the end of the day I might not have no money to count or spend
But I know I can count on all my friends

And you call on me
See we are looking for the same thing
And we are trying to survive
And I know each day in life with you gets better than the last
So today I'm just glad to be alive

And I'm singing
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, stay by my side
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, I'm glad to be alive
Glad to be alive

I'm just trying to find a way to say
I'm just trying to find a way to say
Don't you ever, ever, ever go away

When many little people in many little places
Do many little things, then the whole world changes
But I just want you next to me

And I'm singing
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, stay by my side
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, I'm glad to be alive
Glad to be alive

Singing
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, stay by my side
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, I'm glad to be alive

I'm glad to be alive
I'm glad to be alive"

To The Stow family and friends:
We are deeply sorry and concerned about Bryan's incident. We are all praying and hoping that God's hands touches Bryan with the same compassion and love Bryan has touched so many lives throughout his career in the medical field.
We all pray that soon he will be able to "return to us" and keep spreading the love, compassion and unity, that he has spread during this tragic situation.
With our sincerest love and affection:

Like you, I love baseball, and because of you, Opening Day will never be the same for me again. I think of you often, but that's as far as it gets. This time though, I was able to reach you. God bless you, your family, and those who care for you.

Ann-wishing you a very happy Mother's Day. I am sure days like this are incredibly bittersweet, but how wonderful that you have all your strong and wonderful family around you to help with the tough times. I think of The Great Hodge and his family every day and continue to send you all love, support and strength. Of course we all saw Tyler throw out the first pitch and it was a beautiful site! I know one day we will see Bryan at a game, doing the same thing. Until that day, never give up hope!!!! Much love from Forest Ranch, CA

We're all still thinking of you Bryan. Saying prayers for U and your family often. I still have my candle with ur ribbon on the front and it says, get well Bryan. We look forward to the updates and we look forward in seeing improvements with U. We did see your son throw out the first pitch on Giants opening day. Even though I'm a Dodger fan, I was still able to see this most touching event. It was also nice to see U on the big screen with your Mother. Your FOREVER in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Bryan Stow...

Were your ears ringing Sat, May 5th? We were all thinking of you and looking at the picture we have on the wall with you holding your Giants quilt. Even if you weren't with us in person, you were with us in spirit. Hope you get the results of the tests back soon. All of us here are thinking of all of you there!

Hello to the Stow Family and supporters,
I woke up this morning thinking about Bryan Stow, and how senseless and hurtful acts of violence have impacted you. I decided to search online for Bryan's health update and found this wonderful website. Thank you for letting us all know how Bryan is doing. I just want you to know that you have another supporter and I send my love and encouragement for your daily struggles and wins. :o)
I love seeing the videos and listening to the songs you post for Bryan. You've never given up and that is truly love in action. I will continue to look for fundraising events and other ways to support. I have donated through the website, and know that the money goes to a VERY worthy cause. God bless and know that everything will be alright. With love, Gretchen Vogel
(p.s. if you need help, I live in Cupertino and would be happy to lend a hand- just let me know how!)

Dear Bryan and Family,

We are students in the On Track program, a program for adults with brain injuries. We are all learning how to cope with our brain injuries, just like you are doing today.

We have traveled the same rocky road that you are traveling, DON’T GIVE UP! You are not alone, have hope. We have watched each other improve in areas that we never thought possible; we are now reading, writing, talking and finding our way through this new life. Keep trying no matter how long it takes.

From our experience we have learned that the road to recovery is tough, but it is worth the fight. The brain is incredible! Believe in yourself.

“The brain is programmed to create and we are all but children of the universe” – Eric, On Track student.

Sincerely,

The On Track Program

Hey Bryan, I didn't mean to get this behind on checking in. Greetings from the Lone Star State, and in particular, good ole HOT West Texas. Our Spring certainly didn't last long, and here we are into Summer. Have already had hundred degree plus days here and no rain. But thankfully, the tornadoes have passed us by.

It was sooooooo cool to read about your son on opening day at your home park. Good for him. He's like his daddy no doubt.I know all of your family as well as you are most proud of that day. What a wonderful memory for all time.

My son, who is with AMR in Jackson, MS, is back on the ambulance after his arm injury. He really got tired of being confined to desk duty. Hopefully the arm is 100 per cent and he doesn't injure it again any time soon.

Keep up with your therapy and know we all support you and your efforts. God's still driving your ambulance and things are moving along according to his plan. Just keep the faith.

Gentle breezes on the wings of the Angels atop the West Texas winds and to God in heaven. Georgana

Hi Stow Family,
I look forward to new updates on Bryan, no matter when you get the chance to post them. It doesn't take a website update to help me to remember Bryan's struggle, and to pray for him and all of you. Keep strong and carry on. Good job, Tyler!! Keep Bryan's story in the media to remind the public to pray, or to just be better human beings.
Love from Carleen in Vancouver WA

I agree with everything Paulio said and couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you so much for continuing to keep us all updated. I think we all can agree that the entire Stow family feels like our family now. We all continue to pray for Bryan and send you all as much positive energy as is possible. Keep fighting Bryan! God bless the Stows!
